This small bell is a replica of a large Bell that once hung at Mission San Fernando. After 1914 Mrs. Forbes designed this bell, adding the cross at the top and sold them at various missions along California's historic El Camino Real. On one side is an ornate cross with the legend: AVE MARIA PRMA (Purisima) below. On the other opposite side we find San Fernando and the founding date of 1797. An unfamiliar legend: S J NEPOMUCENO beneath the date probably represents the name of the founder who made the bell.
